CHARACTERISTICS: Rich in tannins. Remains liquid and is rich in minerals. Great paired with cheese, fruit, and your favorite tea!

COLOR: Dark.

FLAVOR: Sweet and sour, penetrating. A very pleasant taste and one of our favorites. Undertones of Chestnut without being overly sweet! Thick, Earthy, with a hint of nut.

ODOR: Not very characteristic, weak, of aromatic herbs, lightly floral.

THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES: Expectorant. Reactivates the circulation, intestinal regulator.

GEOGRAPHICAL ORIGIN: Produced in some zones of the Viterbo region and in the area of the Castelli Romani (the roman hills).

Since an infant's digestive juices are non-acidic, ingestion of honey creates an ideal medium for botulinum spores to grow and produce sufficient levels of toxins to cause infant botulism. For this reason, it is advised that neither honey, nor any other sweetener, be given to children under the age of 18 months.
