This wine is produced with the best grapes from the Abbey A Passignano
reserve, situated in the Chianti Classic region. The Passignano Abbey,
around which the vineyards are found, is one of the most beautiful Abbeys of
the area, and was renowned for its viniculture production until the 11th
century. The Antinori family, bought the land around the Abbey, which
belonged to the Vallombrosani Monks, in 1987, and since then also uses the
splendid cantinas that belong to the monastery. The unique wine of the
Abbey, the Chianti Classic Reserve Passignano , is also reflected on its
label, made according to the procedure used for making bank notes in
Switzerland. It has a drawing of the Abbey and a vine leaf. The design was
the idea of Marchese Piero Antinori “The label reflects the genuine
authenticity, because it is impossible to reproduce or falsify it”. The
labels are in fact produced in Switzerland by the descendants of Christoffel
Froschuer, the famous printer from Zurich of the 1500, whose company has
printed Swiss bank notes since 1603.
It is intense ruby red in color, Classic Chianti Reserve is traditional in
its complexity and in its roundness. Its fruity aroma, from the clear
fragrance of cherry, chocolate and vanilla, is reflected in the flavor,
expressing all its elegance.
