The Fiano di Avellino grape with
which this excellent wine is produced is an ancient grape from the Roman era
which is particularly vigorous and perfect for the type of land whether of
clay or volcanic origin. The Fiano, called Latino in times gone by to
distinguish it from the grapes of Greek origin, is already present in the
XII century, a century when Federico II ordered it to be purchased and Carlo
d’Angiò had 16.000 vines sent to Manfredonia to create a true vineyard. It
has a strong and brilliant straw-yellow color and the Campanaro expresses
itself with a range of enthralling succession of sensations and perfumes,
where one can capture notes of tropical fruit, such as pineapple, banana and
papaya, through to notes of dried fruit (hazelnuts and almonds), spices and
honey. It is full and rich to the palate and is extremely well balanced; the
aftertaste, complex , coherent and long lasting.
